Weight is another important factor especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day. Canon R is 20g lighter than the Canon R6 but we don't think this will make a significant difference.

Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you have to also take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since both Canon R6 and Canon R have the same Canon RF lens mount and Full frame sized sensors, lenses will not be a differentiator on total size of the system.

Canon R's sensor provides 10MP more than Canon R6's sensor, which gives a significant advantage in real life. You can print your images larger or crop more freely. On the other hand, please keep in mind that Max sensor resolution is not the only determinant of resolving power. Factors such as the optical elements, low pass filter, pixel size and sensor technology also affects the final resolution of the captured image.

Below you can see the R6 and EOS R sensor size comparison.

Canon R 89 24.5 bits 13.5 Evs 2742 ISO
Canon R6 vs Canon R Comparison of Available Lenses
Which camera has more lenses?

Number of available lenses is a big decision factor while choosing your interchangeable lens camera. In this case, both Canon R6 and Canon R have the same Canon RF lens mount so have 28 native lenses available. But be careful that only 28 of these lenses can cover the full frame sensors of these cameras.

Another important factor is the availability of image stabilization. Canon R6 has a big advantage in this regard because it has a sensor based image stabilization (IS) which means that all the lenses mounted to this body will be stabilized. R6's built-in Image stabilization system is effective to compensate vibration up to 8.0-stops according to CIPA standards.
On the other hand, Canon R doesn't have this feature so you have to buy a lens with optical stabilization feature. Currently there are 17 lenses for Canon RF mount with Optical Image Stabilization features.
